Sacks.ie: Eircode Checkout Autofill
Custom WooCommerce plugin adding Eircode-powered address lookup to checkout for this Irish packaging and industrial supplies retailer, cutting form fields and delivery errors.
Results & Impact
Outcomes from replacing manual address entry with Eircode-powered lookup at checkout.
Street, town and county now fill automatically from a single Eircode lookup.
Every Eircode resolves to a precise Woosmap-verified location, including rural non-unique addresses.
Lookups fire only from the Eircode field, keeping Woosmap API costs tied to real checkout volume.
Turning One Field Into a Full Address
Sacks.ie’s WooCommerce checkout asked customers to type a full Irish address by hand, a process prone to typos and inconsistent formatting that led to failed and misrouted deliveries. We built a custom plugin that adds a dedicated Eircode field to checkout, wired to the Woosmap Localities API. As a customer types their Eircode, the plugin looks up matching addresses and auto-fills the street, town and county in one step.
The integration was built cost-aware, querying the API only from the Eircode field rather than on every keystroke across the form, so usage (and cost) stays proportional to actual checkout volume.
Fewer Typos, Fewer Failed Deliveries
A single Eircode lookup now does the work of four manual fields, cutting checkout friction and the address errors that come with it, without adding cost for every keystroke.
